Twofer Tuesday

The raindrops on this rose are a good thing. The raindrops on us, not so much.

It didn’t rain buckets Tuesday, but it came down lightly but steadily over our one-hour walk. By the end, our sneakers were squishing, my hair was soaked (Bethany had a hood, but I did not) and Bethany gave up on trying to keep the hem of her pants out of the puddles (she wore the pants she wore to work).

Hey, at least we didn’t sweat!

I suppose a Twofer Tuesday means that I should write two blogs, one from Monday’s walk (which I didn’t write about then because Bethany’s camera battery died before I could get the photos uploaded).

Here’s a neat view from the dirt trail along Lake Bemidji during Monday’s warmer, sunnier walk, during which I sweated in sweat pants because my shorts were all in the laundry:

This picture looks a lot like my mom. If someone were to show me this and say it was her, I would believe it. And then I would wonder why she came to Bemidji and didn’t stop to see me!

I won! I won! (and you can see just how wet our walk was)

Bethany and I are enrolled in Simple Steps Bemidji, and I won one of the drawings this month!

I got a couple of certificates, including $10 at Beyond Juice, which I think I should use to take my walking partner to lunch. Since there’s only two of us, our whole team can eat!

Monday’s "Stuff on the Ground" photo is shampoo in the gutter, I think along Lake.

Most of the stuff we find on the ground is odd or at most perplexing. But on Tuesday, what we found was pretty disturbing. Someone has thrown fish out into the grass along the sidewalk on two different spots on the same block. I think it was when we walked along the back side of Central Elementary School.

Fish may not be very complex creatures, but to catch them and just throw them on the ground is kind of amoral, in my opinion. If you don’t want them, throw them back.

Then again, I suppose the anglers could have been fishing and not been able to keep the fish fresh, and had to throw them away, but that’s even more disgusting and stupid than emptying out a car ashtray on the boulevard.

Quote of the day, from Bethany:

"These leaves look they have confetti on them!"

My first thought was that they had something wrong with them, but it was a far simpler reality:

 Tiny petals from blossoms!

They also looked to me a little like chads, a word I don’t think I would ever have known without the help of Florida.

Do you know where today’s mystery photo is?

Our last one was from a planting downtown, I think on Third Street Northwest.

Take care!
